Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a native of New Mexico. artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. A few took the road towards Colorado following the Denver's cult anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's inaugural inductee was recognized by the honor in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado for people all over. Danoff composed the song to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days later.
